About

I’m a person in long-term recovery from Substance Use Disorder and Co-Occurring Mental Health Disorders. My journey of recovery began July 1, 2017. What that means for me is, I no longer have a problematic relationship with substances, and I have addressed my mental health needs.

I am recognized by both the Department of Mental Health and Addictions Professional of South Carolina as peer support.

I serve as peer support coordinator and outreach coordinator at The Courage Center in Lexington, SC. We are a recovery community organization.

My passion is to advocate for harm reduction and policy reform. Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) are medical needs, which call for medical treatment. The justice system our peers face because of their experience with Mental Health and SUD are not and have not proven to be effective forms of "treatment". My efforts have been to address this and establish a new system of care for us!!
